WATERPROOFING / SHEATHS

The waterproofing sheath serves to prevent water infiltration inside a structure and must be positioned after the thermal insulation, before the upper covering. It is usually inserted where the risk of infiltration is greatest.

Waterproofing products are divided into asphalts, bitumens and tars.

It is possible to find different types of waterproofing sheaths on the market:

• Prefabricated bituminous sheaths: used to waterproof terraces and roofs. They are usually armored and require a protective surface layer. They generally have good mechanical resistance and the high thickness allows the layer to be walked on, which allows the membrane to absorb strong thermal excursions and withstand settlements between the support and the floor.
• Self-adhesive sheaths: they are glued to the installation surface without the use of a flame. It is a cold system that is effective over time and minimizes the risk of slipping.
• Liquid waterproofers: they are more versatile than previous solutions and are highly resistant to water stagnation, UV rays and freeze-thaw cycles.
• Prefabricated polymer sheaths: they are marketed in rolled sheets and are composed of bitumen in a percentage of less than 50%. They have good strength and elasticity
